A reasonably short entry today (I figure you are probably still digesting the previous posts).
My company undertakes a considerable amount of R&D (Research and Development) work and has been instrumental in delivering some innovative technologies to the resources and environmental sectors.
In fact, most of the innovations I see today have been developed through SME's (Small and Medium Enterprises) and to them I would say congratulations! Despite often seemingly insurmountable odds and opposition (frequently from the big end of town in the form of large Corporations, Cooperative Research Centres and the Government) many of you have succeeded in bringing these innovations to the marketplace.
Unfortunately, too many excellent innovations go by the wayside due to a lack of funds, lack of support, external pressures, government controls and the predatory nature of big business.
There is a need for change in the way SME's are treated in the marketplace and the sooner the big end of town wakes up to the fact that they are loosing the best innovators in the country - many are just giving up in utter frustration - the better.
I have addressed some of these issues and would recommend you go and download a copy of the two page brief which I put together discussing these very issues.
